Zack AllanSergeant Zack Allan came to Babylon 5 in late 2258 and became Michael Garibaldi's second-in-command after Lou Welch left the station. He and Garibaldi soon became friends, but this friendship was put under a test when Zack joined Nightwatch in 2259 to earn some extra money. Nightwatch started off as a peaceful attempt to boost the moral in EarthForce, but as President Clark began tightening his grip on power, it soon revealed its true face as a special organization for finding traitors. Zack became a valued member of Nightwatch, but when Captain Sheridan and the rest of the command staff asked him help in driving Nightwatch off the station in April 2260, Zack didn't need to think twice where his loyalties were. He helped by luring the members of the Nightwatch to a docking bay, which was then sealed off until they turned over their weapons. When B5 only a few days later seceded from the Earth Alliance, Zack remained loyal to Captain Sheridan. As time went by the trust between Zack and Garibaldi was restored. When the chief disappeared in December 2260, and G'Kar was captured while looking for him, Zack picked up the trail and eventually found the chief. A few months later Zack was reluctantly promoted as the chief of security when Garibaldi suddenly retired. Another great change that happened around the same time, the end of the Shadow War, brought Zack closer to Lyta Alexander, but the woman didn't share the feelings he had for her. 2262 was an even worse year for Zack. First he fell apart with Lyta as the telepath started spending more and more time with Byron (who Zack didn't trust one bit) and then momentarily with Garibaldi after finding out about his alcoholism. Zack remained on B5 years after his old co-workers one by one left the station. Eventually he returned to the EarthForce grey, before moving to Centauri Prime in 2281 to help Emperor Vir Cotto.
