Neroon

John Vickery

Neroon

Member of the Star-Riders clan of the warrior caste, Neroon was the second-in-command for Branmer, one of the greatest Minbari warriors, from 2243 to 2258. A year after Branmer's death Neroon replaced Delenn in the Grey Council tipping the balance of power in favour of the warrior caste. After Delenn dissolved the Council in 2260 and was about to accept the leadership of the Rangers, Neroon arrived to Babylon 5 determined to stop her even by force if necessary. He changed his mind after fighting with Marcus Cole and seeing how much the rangers actually respected her. He spared the ranger's life and recognised Delenn as the new Ranger One.

During the civil war on Minbar Delenn turned to Neroon for help, putting aside their former disagreements. Delenn was planning to sacrifice herself in the Starfire Wheel in order to end the war and to restore the balance of power between the castes. At the last moment Neroon switched places with her announcing that even though he had been born in the warrior caste, the calling of his heart was religious. He was burned to death and Delenn, the de facto leader of the religious caste, was given the authority to reform the Grey Council. When she restored the Council, she left the leader's seat empty in the memory of Neroon.
